Viviana Rodríguez

I wish that my art brings beauty to the world and an inner journey for the viewer.
“I am a certified public accountant and a textile artist. My works are influenced by my childhood, Japanese culture and Economics”.

About my work:

My childhood memories with my grandmothers, the comics I used to draw, and the books I’ve read inspire me. In a way, my work is autobiographical. My artworks combine craft and handmade processes on the one hand, and conceptual elements on the other. I work with paper. I cut it, carve it, weave it. I’m interested in the transformation process of the material, discovering what it can construct, how far it can grow, what it can become, its flexibility, and its limits. Once that corpus has been defined, my translational task involves seeking in each work that intimate relationship between languages that have little to do with the message in its literal sense and much to do with my spirit. I weave my memories.
